Why Stitching Is Important?
Stitching:
Stitching is not just a single word. It’s an emotion, a necessity, and an emergency for all human beings. When you hear the word “stitch,” it doesn’t define just one thing. It’s related to sewing, embroidery, crocheting, or surgical stitching. It’s a complete movement through materials, the body, and obviously, fabric with a threaded needle.
Sewing:
It’s one kind of stitch used for making cloth which is an ancient art that gives exceptional value to human beings. It’s also called stitching or needlework.
Why should we learn sewing or stitching? Here are the reasons below:
First, I can share my opinion. When I was very young, I loved to play with dolls, but dolls always wore dresses that were boring for me. So, one day, I asked to make a dress for my lovely doll. My mother was busy with so much work, but she made a dress with scrap fabric with her own hands, using a needle and thread. I followed her and tried to make one by myself. So, when I went to visit nearby tailors, I used to collect scrap fabric for making dresses. In these sequences, I had grown an interest in tailoring and designing. I can share other reasons why one should keep knowledge about stitching and sewing:
Reason 1: Express your thinking
When you want to dress uniquely, it’s not possible to explain your thoughts to another person. Then it will be successful if you draw your idea according to your thoughts and make a dress like this. Like I always make dresses for me and my daughter, which really fit well for her and me. And we always match our outfits. It really gives you extra happiness when you wear your handmade outfit.
Reason 2: Stitching saves you money with profit
If you have stitching knowledge, you can make dresses for yourself and your family members, which will save you from losing a lot of money. If you have sufficient sewing ideas, you can take orders from others, which will give you extra profit. Here also, I can share my experience that I always get many offers for making dresses for others.
Reason 3: You can take it as your pastime
When you learn something creative, it makes you more skillful than normal casual work. Sewing is an art. If you make a unique task, it can last a lifetime. Apart from this, if all your thinking goes for stitching or any creative work, it will save you from other unethical work or bad habits. Sewing will give you better relaxation time, where you can feel more relaxed. So I think everyone should have their “my time”.
Reason 4: It may be your profession
If you are good enough at stitching, then you can start a self-business where you can make your unique dresses. I think you will find a market if you maintain quality with a unique style. It can also make you a social person.
Reason 5: Exercise:
When you work with needle, thread, and fabric, you have to use your two hands, two eyes, and also the brain and nerves, so I think it’s a good exercise for keeping oneself relaxed-minded.
Reason 6: Long-lasting learning
It’s a learning which will last your lifetime. There are some works which do not stay long without practice, but it’s such knowledge which can’t leave your head easily.
Reason 7: Fitting and alteration
Sometimes we have to face a situation with oversized dresses. If we have the knowledge of sewing, we can alter our clothes to fit our body, which can save us from uneasiness or more tension. Or sometimes, we rip our new dresses badly, then we can use our alteration techniques to repair our clothes.
Reason 8: Re-use our cloth
If you have a dress which does not fit you or whose color does not suit you, then you can best use your cloth. If you have a baby, you can make a baby dress from your unusable cloth.
Reason 9: Be an eco-friendly person
You can be an eco-friendly person by using your scrap fabric. When you sew a dress, you get some leftover fabric which you can use to make a baby dress, baby diaper, baby napkin, or a tablecloth, or doll dress.
Reason 10: It can give you popularity
When you wear your own dress, people ask you where do you buy this, then it really gives you joy and happiness. And if they want to make a dress like you, it’s really a popularity scheme, I think.
Reason 11: Sewing makes a person creative
I think every person has their own creativity, but they don’t use their knowledge. But when you sit for making or cutting a dress, you have to use your brain. In this way, you become more creative.
