Sewing machine’s needle problem?

New sewing needle vs sewing needle after for months of sewing

Your machine have a lot of trouble? ‘Have you tried changing the needle?’

When you unpack a needle it looks sharp and it  works smoothly. But when you use it for months, it’s become blunt and it shrinks your fabric or stitch would be bad.

So, It’s worth changing the needle every twenty or so hours of sewing. It can make a difference on the fabric around the stitch and make needle strikes and unpicked areas less obvious. Also, it can just generally resolve problems like slipstitches and bad tension, which can be caused by blunt needles.

I also match my needles to the fabric I’m sewing—ballpoints for knits and fabrics with elastane, thinner needles for lighter fabrics, thicker needles for heavier fabrics.

When you face  problems with stitch quality, you should change the needle first.

Some people only change needles when they break, but I try to make a habit of changing them at least with every new project or fabric.

Overlockers are a bit like that. For this, there’s a lot of things that can go wrong and  thread being too tight or loose will mess with tension of all the other threads. So always be careful about the tension and needle. But, changing needle is must, and you should make a routine for checking your needle , tension, etc. Happy stitching.
